Standalone update date confusion

Hi all

I have a problem where the dates of last update are incorrect on our standalone Sophos.

Looking at the Sophos "Status" section the update says it is out of date by some weeks.  However if I hover over the shield on the status bar it indicates that it last updated today?

Any ideas?

Regards

Stuart

  • Hi,

On the standalone client there are 4 places where the update time is shown:

    1. Mouse over of the AutoUpdate shield.

    2. On the "home page" of Sophos AV.  Under the "Status" section.

    3. On the Help and about menu page.

    4. In the product information page: Click on "View Product Information" and expand the "software" section.

The first 3 are all the last time that AutoUpdate checked for an update, the 4th one is the last time Sophos AutoUpdate installed a new update. So you could argue 4 is more important.

The update check time is taken/stored in:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\[Wow6432Node]\Sophos\AutoUpdate\UpdateStatus\LastUpdateTime

In decimal this is a Epoch time, you can convert it here:

    http://www.epochconverter.com/

and timezone permitting it should be the same as 1, 2 and 3.

Hope this described how it works and what to check.

    Regards,

    Jak
