Download Software Security Wizard in endpoint console

Hi, I am evaluating the software for possible deployment to 100+ servers. I have my enterprise console installed. The first thing I have to do is run through this wizard and download from sophos. Now I have my generated username and pass that I got from sophos after registering the trial and I access the web via a proxy. I can browse the web using IE, but whenever I try to use this wizard after entering the same proxy details, it always times out. For my proxy I have to enter my domain, username and pass, as there is no 3rd field to enter the domain, I assume I have to type in domain\username in the username field, and my password in the password field.

Can you tell me if this wizard is able to handle this proxy credential format or can you help me get the software downloaded so that I can start to evaluate the product?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Regards

Carl

  • The Console help says If the username needs to be qualified to indicate the domain, use the form domain\username. Click OK.This is true for all username fields. Since you've already run the wizard use View/Edit subscription -> Sources, select Sophos and click Edit.

Sorry for repeating myself but - don't rush it. I'd recommend you begin with only a handful of clients and one  or the other server (you probably have to restart them). Of course it depends what features you are most interested in in the trial.

  • THanks for the advice,

I also submitted a ticket to sophos support and they got back to me today and said it was a known issue in the current version of the update manager. They said it would be fixed in the next release and advised me to make exclusions for various URL's in the firewall policy so that I didnt need proxy authentication.

As I wasnt allowed to do that by our group IT, I have just stuck the server on an ADSL line as I am only evaluating it and its now downloading :)

    THanks
