creating an action on successful update

Hi All, Hope someone can help. sorry for the lenghty background info below.

We have purchased endpoint security and control along with over 200 user licences, we have them deployed to each different site, each site has its own network,AD,security and method of VPN, they are all unrelated to eachother(they are our customers). we don't have a permanant connection to the sites so therefor we cannot plug in the client AV  into the endpoint server based in our network, so really we have a product we cant use. I am not too fussed about that as we got a good deal on the product. but what I need is for some way to be able to find out when a site updates it definition files successfully.

I have tried to find out in sophos AV 9 some text file that shows a date and time it was updated but I cant find it anywhere, I can see a sav.txt file in the autoupdate but the information provided doesnt really give me what i need.

So, is anyone able to help with this issue? I can easily setup a batch file to email out once a day to look for some text, but this is the part of the system i cannot find, in the GUI I can see the last updated was for example, 30/06/2010. This is what I am looking for in some logs somewhere.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Basically each site is a local council authority, we are a software house but manage a single web server at each site. we update sophos through sophos own repository as we cant get the ports enabled to access our own repository, so the clients cant communicate to our own central system.

I just want a way to quickly find out the last time the client was updated without having to oragnise a VPN connection to the site(which can take ages to sort out) and we have over 100 individual sites to get this info from.

    Thanks
