Device control failed to disable device: deviceId=USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_&PROD_&REV_1100\12021300000357&0, errorCode=-4.

We are now starting to see an increasing number of devices showing error :

Device control failed to disable device: deviceId=USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_&PROD_&REV_1100\12021300000357&0, errorCode=-4.

Is this related to USB blocking - that we recently brought in on our network ?

If so - what can I do to clear the error ?

  • Hello Weeboo,

so you are blocking removable storage in your policy? It's "normal" that you see some errors like this one (also for enable) when using Device Control. Usually one just acknowledges them.
If you can get hold of such a device you can test whether it is subsequently indeed disabled/blocked - if so, you may rest assured that it works as intended.
