Secondary server update source

Hello,

When an endpoint cannot connect to the primary location we want to have it connect to Sophos for updates. However, what is updated? I'm having trouble information on what would be updated. If an endpoint were to update from Sophos, would it overwrite the policies we have configured?

Thanks!

  • Hello BrandonLafferty,

updating definitions and software and policy-administration are different things. An update will never change any existing policy settings.
Updates from Sophos have their peculiarities: An endpoint will check at most once an hour, that's the minimum interval. An error will be reported for RMSNT as it can only be downloaded from an on-premise managed CID (otherwise it could break the on-site communication). Potential SAV version upgrades will be delayed until the version on the endpoint is retired. The reason is that neither Sophos nor the endpoint know which version would be downloaded from an on-premise CID.
But again - updates from Sophos don't touch the policies.
