Anti Virus heuristic scan for UNIX Systems

Hi all,

I would like to know if heuristic scan is enabled by default in the sophos scan engine that is installed in the endpoint unix systems.

    Hello Suresh Nadesan,

    to my knowledge there's nothing that could be enabled or disabled and is called heuristic scan. It's not clear what setting you are referring to.

    Are you meaning On-Access Scanning? Or Memory Scanning?

    Heuristics scanning covers a lot of techniques used to scan for malware. We use many of those in our products - from signature based (where the heuristics were used to convict the hash) through to Deep Learning models. However, not all of these elements are available on Unix.

    To clarify, is this for some sort of audit or reporting requirement?
