NDR question about hardware compatbility

Please transfer this discussion to NDR. I had to open it here because I don't see the New question button in NDR.

i was reading the post on the NDR product NDR Certified Hardware Aug 2024 where was add it the new HW OnLogic MC510-55. But i would like to know if we can use the Qotom hardware. I know that is not tested.

I understand that there is a list of devices recommended and supported by Sophos. But I would like to understand what is the minimum internal capacity that any other device should have to test the NDR.

Here are some that I understand could work but I would not like to buy them without first having some feedback from the forum or Sophos.

But can you check if the hardware can be compatible.

I would like to have your feedback, even if it is not something formal from Sophos, before buying the equipment and trying it out. I would rather ask for your observations on the matter.

Please any recommendations would be appreciated. I would like to hear your opinion on this device even though it has not been tested by Sophos.

  • Hi this is Karl Ackerman - Product Manager for NDR.

The issue is not if any of the above would work it is that we have not certified them and can not offer support if you run into an issue.

The OnLogic device has the necessary Intel CPU, Memory, Diskspace and DUAL LAN Ports configuration.

When you look at the basics of what is required:
INTEL I5 or above CPU, 32GB Ram, 2 LAN ports (2.5GBPS).

I strongly encourage you consider the certified HW if at all possible.

We will look for other options in the future but I do not expect us to add to the certified HW list until 2H 2025 at the earliest.

Sorry, as i am sure this is not the answer you were hoping for.  NDR is not that complicated when it comes to it's requirements but when certifying we have found odd issues with some NICs and have to recommend the certified HW.
