Installation error code 124, error 0x800700c1

I have the same error but cannot locate these keys in the registry. I had previously installed AVG but it it completely removed (according to the removal tool).

    Hello Leon Oost,

    I've started a new thread with your post. The bootstrapper returns 124 the error is at Checking for local third-party software..., something different and likely not related to residuals. I've no idea what could be causing it - seen it in conjunction with the bitness (32/64) of an application but how it could apply here? Is there a log with av-remove or something like it in its name?
