Endpoint Standard from Sophos Central

Hi guys,

We've recently started rolling out Sophos products to our clients, creating Sophos Central accounts for them through our Partner Portal, etc, but we've hit a snag.

We can't seem to work out how to download and install Sophos Endpoint Standard, when a client's account is Monthly. Obviously if it's termed we can just order the license, and apply it to the client, but being monthly, normally we would just download the software from their Sophos Central account, install the software on whatever computers they want to protect, and they get billed accordingly.

Under Protect Devices, I can see Endpoint Advanced, Intercept-X, and Device Encryption, but not Endpoint Standard?

Can anyone shed some light on what we're missing?

Kind regards,
Stuart Mitchell

  • Hello Stuart Mitchell,

the Endpoint Security group is perhaps not the best for Central questions (unless they apply only to the "core" functionality of Endpoint). Additionally Partner questions might not get the desired attention. There's a Partners group (can't say if you have access to it) but it doesn't seem very active.

  • Hi Christian,

Thanks for the tip! I've just moved this thread to Sophos Central for now. See how I go here!

  • I think just install Advanced. The license is what dictates to the software which features it has I believe, so it just won't have those additional features of Advanced when using a Standard license. Try it out, check the policies page after a test installation to make sure it doesn't use an advanced feature.

Here's another recent post about changing license type:

  • Hi apalm123,

What you said initially didn't help, but the other forum post you linked to worked perfectly! It's just a matter of installing Advanced, then changing the licensing in the client's Admin portal to Standard by downgrading it.

    Thanks heaps!

    Kind regards,

  • Would this work the same way if one used the "Complete Windows Installer?

Will the Windows installer install Endpoint on a server? What's the difference between the Windows installer and the Server installer?

I'm asking because I have to script the install for multiple systems at clients and  I don't want to create multiple, customized installers.
