Sophos Intercept X for Citrix VDI

Hi Team,

We have a query in Sophos license allocation in Citrix VDI environment. How the licensing will work here for the sessions.

So, we have a master image with Windows 11 operating system. Each users have a different session in the environment.

How The license counts, and allocation will work here.

  • Hi Anishkumar C,

Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

With the deployment you describe, each of the Endpoint Images will register uniquely with Sophos Central resulting in each of the images consuming an Endpoint License.

I have reached out internally to get more information on any special considerations, specifically where a Sopohs-protected endpoint is used to access the Citrix images. I will follow up with you here with any additional information I'm able to share.

  • The suggested way to proceed is to have your end-user log in to the Citrix VDI environment using the same user account as their local system. This way, in Sophos Central, both the VDI system and the local device will report as associated to their user account.

This will result in an overall license usage of 1 for that user, even though both a local and VDI device are being used.

See: Endpoint license usage and allocation FAQ
Yes. A user with two devices, for example, one using Endpoint Protection only and one running both Endpoint Protection and Intercept X, will use one Endpoint Protection license and one Intercept X license.
