setting up message relay and update cache

hi all,

i have read the "setting up sophos relay and update cache" here

couple of questions -

on the sophos central portal it says this

Update Cache and Message Relay Status

Cache Status
Active
Last Cache Update
a year ago
Using Cache
Message Relay Status
Active
Using Relay
Product Update Source

Sophos Central Messaging

so im using this for the message relay and update cache and devices are using this as a relay (a few so theres a problem) but the cache devices are not
on the machine thats running the update cache and message relay, should i add another host entry ie
ip-of-the-server       dns-name-of-the-server
also i get "last cache update a year ago" i have checked and the date and time are correct
i get this error on sophos central
Failed to install SOPHOSCLEANM64: general error.

    but still on the web portal i get this

    Last Sophos Central Activity 16 minutes ago
    Last Agent Update 2 years ago Update Failed

    and everytime i click update now button it just doesnt update, do i need to maybe re install sophos server agent on this machine again, will this fix it?

    Thanks for reaching out. 

    If it has been two years since the update cache last updated, uninstalling and re-installing may be a better idea. If Sophos Clean is having issues installing, this may be related to why the update cache also fails to update. 

    If you find that the same issue returns after a full re-install, please share the installation logs for Sophos Clean from the C:\Windows\Temp directory. 

    You can also choose to remove/add the Update Cache component individually from devices by navigating to the "Server Settings > Manage Update Caches and Message Relays" menu.
