Windows 7 OS Updates blocked since October

Hi all.

We have some legacy Windows 7 machines, all with valid ESU licenses from Microsoft.

These machines have been getting and installing updates via our WSUS servers for months without issue.

Recently, we've noticed that they fail to apply OS updates, although updates to other apps (e.g. Office) install without issue.

These installations fail after the 'restarting to apply update' phase.

Uninstalling the Endpoint product allows these updates to be installed without issue.

Anyone else seen anything similar?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

  • For anyone looking for a resolve to this issue...Sophos have finally provided a Group A release of there latest Central agetn, which updates the Core Agent to version 2.20.10..this fixes at least confirmed and tested on W7 clients the issue in not being able to apply and successfully install updates fron Oct/Nov 2021 and onwards (where they would install but then revert changes and fail the installation)...with this new Core agent version fix, the updates now apply successfully.
