Device control: errorCode = 0x800706ba

How can I get rid of this error message?
Often, when a certain USB dongle is plugged in, I get the following error message:
A device control event occurred on the TE-DESK06 machine when the user NT AUTHORITY \ Local Service logged on.

Device Control could not process the notification of a configuration change: errorCode = 0x800706ba.

The message does not always come when the dongle is plugged in, but when it does, it is unfortunately very frequent.
What's wrong with that? I can't get anywhere without help.

I thank you in advance for your help.

  • Hello Frank,

Thank you for reaching out to the Sophos Community.

May I ask what version of Sophos Endpoint you’re running at this time? Let me know what operating system you’re running as well.

When searching for this error, I found some references indicating it can also be caused by Windows being out of date/missing patches. Do you know if you have any pending updates or patches from Windows waiting to be installed?

Let me know if this helps. If you continue to experience issues, please update this thread with the requested information.

    Thank you,
