sophos endpoint mysteriously appeared on my computer 7 days ago

I have a personal computer, Windows 10 Pro, that is not for work.  7 days ago Sophos Endpoint Defense Software mysteriously appeared on my computer.  It is now using 50% of my RAM and making it impossible to run other programs without freezing.  I try to uninstall but it says it is tamper resistant.  I do not have a tamper password because I never installed this program on purpose.  It just somehow appeared.  What can I do to remove software from my pc?

Thanks,

Zach

  • It doesn't make sense that it would just appear.  Do you have a exe called SophosSetup.exe on the computer?  That is the Sophos Central installer. I wonder if that could give a clue, based on the location/timestamp what might have happened?  The computer will be registered in a Sophos Central account from which you can obtain the password.  Service and Support (sophos.com) is the article to follow to disable Tamper Protection to allow you to uninstall.  I would say that you need to follow them to the letter to be successful.
