Free Sophos for Linux asking for credentials

We are trying to install the Free Sophos standalone for Linux, but it is requiring product credentials to proceed. Are these this the same credentials we use for our licensed version? It was my understanding that using the 'free' tools wouldn't require credentials.

Thanks in advance.

  • After several tries the install would complete, but now we get this message when running savupdate.

  • We realized that the previous error was from putting the wrong credentials in initially. Now with the credentials cleared, the error is 'invalid authentication'.
  • During installation the product will ask you whether you want to use free or supported. If you answer free, then some free credentials are automatically downloaded.
