Internet Access Intermittently Blocked

Sophos Home intermittently blocking firefox & safari internet access MacOS 12.6 on Apple M1 Silicon.

Restart solves the problem--but only for a while. Any solutions out there?

  • More details? Version numbers of Sophos Home, hardware on which it is running, etc? Have you looked at logs or used used the URL checker to see why access is being blocked? (And what we mean by "blocked": warning message, packet dropped, etc?

Assume you mean "restart the Sophos Home" as opposed to restart the Mac? And there is no endpoint software involved? (Which might be doing things that Sophos blocks eventually.)

Are you running DoS rules and are they kicking in? I could see a restart resetting these until your Mac bursts too hard and triggers too-low thresholds.

  • I run Sophos Home Premium, Network Extension & Scan, all version 10.3.8 on a 24" iMac running macOS 12.6.  I've just sent the logs to the support team--I didn't see the problem via the logs. I meant re-starting my Mac not Sophos Home (I know how to disable Sophos but not re-start Sophos).

I do not have any endpoint software, as far as I know. Nor am I running any DoS rules.  This is a new vanilla computer with not much installed other than Firefox & Sophos
