user profile service has failed the logon

Hello,

We constantly receive tickets from our end users reporting that they cannot log into their systems.  Upon inspection the error they are receiving is "User Profile Service has failed the logon."  We are able to work around this issue by wiping the users local profile from the system which would point to a corruption somewhere in the user profile.  The workaround gets old for the users when it happens several times within a month or two.  The trouble we are having with tracking this issue down is that we cannot reproduce the issue on demand.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?  if so how did you fix it?

System Specs:

System(s): Lenovo: T430, T440, T450, T460s (happens on all of them)
OS: Windows 7 Pro SP1
Bitlocker: No
BOOT: BIOS (not UEFI)
SafeGuard Enterprise: 7.0.2

  • The Windows issue itself you have to go to the registry -> HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

find and delete the .bak out of the GUID, and delete the 'clone' guid that shows the login folder as c:\users\temp

    reboot

Maybe set a GPO for wait for network logon?
