bit locker not launching

I have a new client I'm trying to add.  SafeGuard is installed on the client, and it sees the server and is able to update from it.  the safeguard manager sees the client but not the hard disk.  and bitlocker does not launch when I log on.

windows 10 pro on client, joined to the domain.

What am I missing?  Can I manually run bitlocker?

    Hello Troy,

    Have you:

    • Installed all 3 components (pre-install / client / config)?
    • Made sure you're using version 7.00.2.23 (or 7.00.2.23 if running the TH2 update)?
    • Have all the BitLocker pre-requisites been met?
    • Have you pushed out an encryption policy?
    • Have you logged in through the SafeGuard tile?
    • Have you got user / owner status on the machine in SafeGuard?

Yes you can just enable BitLocker and SGN will take over the machine.

  • HI Toby,

I tried to reply via email, however the message was kicked back.  Heres what I have

    • Installed all 3 components (pre-install / client / config)? Yes
    • Made sure you're using version 7.00.2.23 (or 7.00.2.23 if running the TH2 update)? Preinst, Client 7.00.2.35 Config 7.00.0.97
    • Have all the BitLocker pre-requisites been met? Looks like it, looks like I can manually launch bit locker, and I ran the bitlocker configuration utility.
    • Have you pushed out an encryption policy?  Not sure.  Is this done through GP Edit or the SG Manager console? could you offer guidance?
    • Have you logged in through the SafeGuard tile? Yes
    • Have you got user / owner status on the machine in SafeGuard? SG Manager shows I have these permissions.

the hard disk does not show up in the inventory list.  Also the computer uses UEFI.  all other computers use BIOS.

I had a worker set this up for me.  I dont have him working for me any more.

    Hey Troy,

Pushing out a policy is done via the SafeGuard Management Centre, if you browse to the domain/OU/Folder your machine is under you should be able to drag-and-drop policies from the right hand side, click save, then sync the client for it to pick these policies up.

User / Owner status will need to be checked on the client, if you check the systray > right click the safeguard icon > status what does it say there?

Does the machine show any inventory information?

UEFI is fine, that's needed for Windows 10/BitLocker.

  • Ok i'll try that this afternoon.

Does it mean anything that the drive does not show in the inventory.
