SGNAuthService and "Sorry, this computer is locked"

Hi all.

We have troubles.
There is SafeGuard Easy 5.50.8.13 installed at netbook Lenovo IdeaPad U165 with Windows 7 Starter. Besides other policies there are the following:
Maximum no. of faild logons: 0
Reaction to failed logon: Lock machine: No
POA - disable
As soon as Sophos finishes encrypting, we get the following message:
Sorry, this computer is locked.
This message from Sophos is only shown in Windows shell. At that, the POA shell is not available and therefore it’’’’s not possible to do C/R.

How can we unlock the netbook?

  • Hi bond1973,

what you did is a so called machine challenge response - this is an alternative way unlock a machine. However, this requires the user to know the user password else they won't be able to further authenticate.

Additionally the machine has to talk back to the server at least once (for managed installations) else it won't work as well.

    Regards
