Sophos safeguard file encryption not working at all

Hi there - When you installed the Sophos SafeGuard client did you also enable data exchange/File Encryption?

The standard install might not have installed it. You can modify/change the existing install though and add it?

I didn't install those 2, you think this will fix the issue? We are using the application based feature. 

I will test it now.

EDIT*: i had to disable synchronized encryption to try this

EDIT 2*: i can create keys now, which is an improvement i guess, but the "encrypt this file" button is gone now O_O

Still stuck on this issue

Have you logged a call with Sophos support about this? I'm sure they might be able to give you a quicker solution rather than the community site?

Did this work at any point (File Encryption that is) or has it never worked?

It never worked and i made a ticket with the support of sophos about this but they didn't reply yet. But atleast now i can create keys for the key ring, just no encrypt button in the menu, only generate key or check encrytpion state.

Hold on - I'll fire up my test VM and see if I can install FE on that and have a little clearer idea for you where it's gone wrong...

Mine's working well.

I did a "Typical" install of the client. Didn't change any options so this is easier for you to reproduce.

Created a workgroup in the console and added the policy to the container.

Applied configuration

"joined" the workgroup

and rebooted.

Logged on - Password (previously blank) forced a change.

Policy forced encryption on the drive - BitLocker kicks in and requests reboot

Rebooted

Logged back in with new password

Initial User synchronisation completes (now no exclamation over Sophos cog in tray)

Attempt to encrypt a file - works.

Attempt to open encrypted file - fails as expected

Decrypt file - works

Open decrypted file - works

So - Either policy or the client. I still think client personally.

Can you uninstall - reboot and do a Typical install please?

Just installed the typical install.

Now i can encrypt the files again but the button for key rings is gone and if try to encrypt the file, my screen flashes for abit and then nothing else. File isn't ecrypted if check the state.
