WiFi done right.... did i?

Servus!

Ich hab ne Frage zum Netzaufbau bezgl. WLAN.

Ich hab mehrere Sophos APs an meiner UTM home angeschlossen, was ... "soweit" recht gut funktioniert.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Morning, i "think" it happens on all of them. I am not 100% on this though.

    Erm: TBH: i thought that the utm is handling firmware installs on the aps. Ill start to dig into this right away.

    Kind regards

  • Guten Morgne Balfson!

    Ich glaube die Zeile hier gibt die aktuelle Firmware des APs an:

    firmware ver 10.2.4-1.0-00047 api 5 features no-p2p,raw-mode,mfp,allows-mesh-bcast crc32 35bd9258

    auf der UTM im verzeichnis: /etc/wireless/firmware

    hat der AP55 eine Firmware (.devinfo) von:

    DEVICE_TYPE=AP55
    FIRMWARE_VERSION=9500-wifi-94a8ad46-0df51d6
    QCA_VERSION=c3496dd
    FIRMWARE_LENGTH=7288212
    FIRMWARE_TAG=apfw_11.0.017

    D.h. ich vermute da läuft was schief beim Firmware Update meiner APs. Das Flashtool funktioniert leider nicht.
    Ich habe einen separaten USB-Nic angeschlossen über den der AP mit meinem Laptop verbunden ist, leider kommt es immer zur folgenden Fehlermeldung:

    Kann mir bitte jemand helfen die UTM dazu zu bewegen meine APs zu aktualisieren?

    Dank und Gruss

  • Halo  ,

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi Vivek!

    Since machine translation to german is very unprecise and requires fantasy to understand what you mean:
    I'll continue in english.

    About your recommendation: I already tried that. See the screenshot of the error message in my last post.
    It occurs every time i use the flashing tool.

    My understanding is: the AP is in the wrong mode to do that.

    Quote:

    "The Sophos Flashing Tool will only work if the boot loader cannot load the access point firmware image. If the firmware can be booted or the bootloader is damaged, this tool will not work."

    The AP boots and the tool wont work.

  • Okay so is it that the AP continuously reboots ?

    Thanks & Regards,

  • No, the ap boots and works to some degree:
    The old firmware is causing clients to disconnect very often.

    Its connected to the UTM and shows up as active ap:

    For some reason its not getting updated by the utm. if you look a little up there is a post from balfson that i am facing a bug that has been patched 5 years ago:
    [...]

    Hmmm, reason_code="2" was a bug fixed almost 5 years ago - what version are you using?

    [...]

  • Did we try re-configuring the AP from the scratch and changing auto channel to manual ?

    Thanks & Regards,

  • No, we did not.
    Do you think this will resolve the firmware issue?
    I personally don't have that feeling, but i may be wrong.

  • I would suggest to try once and let me know the status once done !

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Can you describe the procedure to me?
    Not sure how to get it back to scratch.
    Can you confirm i did find the firmware version in the console log?
