We've heard from customers that it can sometimes be difficult to identify the right IP address to include when defining a new location or when updating an existing location. So today we're rolling out an update that includes a new feature to make the task easier.
When you edit or create a location definition, you'll now see an option to 'Add known IPs'.
Clicking on this link will bring up a list of possible options, including the IP address from which you are currently browsing to Sophos Central's management UI, and the IP addresses from which your Sophos Firewalls are connecting to Central Firewall Management. Any addresses that are not already in use in your defined locations will be available to select and add to the location's list.
You can still manually add any necessary addresses that are not automatically detected. Also, bear in mind that this feature adds the current IP address, but cannot automatically update the location if the IP address changes in the future. If your Firewall's IP address changes frequently, we recommend that you set up a dynamic DNS hostname to keep track of the changing address, and use that hostname in the location definition instead of the IP address.
