new XG UTM setup - basic setup - cannot change IP address

the new UTM seems very promising, I am about to evaluate it.

I downloaded a home version and trying to install it on VMware. and now got some issue to do the initial setup:

I created a VM with 3 NIC in VM and successfully installed the XG UTM home version.

after read through the document, it looks like the default IP of this guy will be 172.16.16.16 so I launch another client in same network and give it IP 172.16.16.2, and bingo, I can see the setup page now!

base on my experience, everything should be easy after this, but here is the issue, I cannot change the IP address?! I click on the basic setup and try to give it a static IP in my intenal network 192.168.*.* and click on save-- nothing happaned!? try to ping the IP from internal client - cannot ping it..
repeat this a few times and removed 2 NIC from the VM and rebooted - still the same.
what I done is wrong? anyone can tell me?

regards,
Lanny

  • You don't need to assign static addresses, the interface is dhcp.
Basic setup is for port 2, you will need a static ip address, gateway and a dns. I assume you haven't activated or synchronised your licence yet. And finally save it.

  • ok, so the 2nd port is DHCP, I checked my lease table, found the IP of the UTM and typed it in browser: https://192.168.*.*:4444, but it still doesn't work?
when I type in https:// 192.168.*.* however, I can see the user portal.
so the IP is correct but I still cannot see the admin portal, and cannot activate it...
  • The admin portal is on port 1 with https://172.16.16.16:4444/
You will not be able to login via any other port until you have activated and synchronised your licence.
Leave your port 2 configuration alone, you will need that when you login to the admin on port 1.

What I was advising in my previous post was if you had connected to the admin portal.
