Hi,
I am setting up this for first time and first thing I need to sort out is how to make XG125 dial up by itself.
TP link router does the PPOE where BTU is Huawei device directly connects to the fiber network.
Now when I am connecting XG125, I want the PPoE to be taken up by the firewall itself. I tried to setup the PPoE settings within XG125 , didnt work. I couldn't find where to start tracing it.
Meanwhile I got the PPoE log from TP-Link router. Anyone can suggest what is the correct setup so that XG125 will be able to establish dial up.
Hi,
are you talking about a dialup using dial tone or are you talking about a PPPOE connection. On the XG the PPPOE connection is setup in the WAN interface.

Thanks for your reply.
You are right, I want XG to do the PPoE, eliminate the TP Link router.
Above is my WAN link config, trying to connect PPoE. didn't work. Is there any place in XG to check log of this connection ?
Hi,
have you put the TP-router into bridge mode or do you have a modem that you can put into bridge mode. The Sophos hardware does not usually come with an inbuilt modem.

Hi Ian,
Thanks again for your reply. The ISP has a fibre BTU unit, which should have the modem. TP link is just a router whose WAN port is connected to BTU.
TP-Link takes care of the PPOE connection establishment. --> this role I want XG to be able to perform when I connect WAN port from XG to broadband BTU device.
Is this wrong expectation?
Hi,
I would expect that connection to be a ethernet, not PPPoE. The XG should be able to handle the PPPoE connection.
I would check the tp-link router configuration.

Hi,
that is not going to help you investigate the tp-link router settings. Also your default gateway appears to be an internal address.

Hi,
I am back again. I had to get a console cable to reset the unit :)
Hi there,
Has the TP-Link PPPOE been set to use a Vlan?
My guess is that it has, and so you need to create a Vlan in the sophos on the hardware port for the WAN connection
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Before - Current Setup by ISP
After - My goal
My ISP doesn't have any VLAN. Refer TP Link PPoE setup page.
Screenshot of the tplink config setting for pppie would be more helpful
