RED list disappears from the Control Center when activating more than one dynamic dhcp list in the same RED

Hello guys!

We have an XG330 with the latest version of the 17.5 release (17.5.14 MR-14-1), and around 40 REDs connected to this XG330, all working very well.

But in one of them (a RED50), the network range used is mask 22 (255.255.252.0), its IPs start at 192.168.4.1 and end at 192.168.7.254.

However, for this specific RED, it will be necessary to use two IP ranges in the 'dynamic list dhcp'.

If we use only one 'dynamic list' the behavior in the visualization of the REDs is normal.

However if we use more than one, the reported 'bug' occurs: the RED list disappears from the Control Center.

How to solve this?

Neither restarting apache or tomcat solves this problem.

Thank´s in advance.

  • Hello Paulo,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community!

This is not a bug this is as design, for now, the RED DHCP server has to be configured from within the RED configuration not from the XG DHCP server if you do this, it will cause the RED to disappear when you add.

The RED only allows 1 DHCP server configured.

  • Hello Emmanuel,

Thanks for your help, but we already know that information.
A screenshot follows to understand what happens, in the panel 'Configure'-> 'Network'-> 'RED'-> 'Add RED interface'-> 'RED Network settings' (does not allow adding more than one' RED DHCP range ':
    Regards,
  • However, for reasons of internal policies of our institution, all REDs have the following configuration below (see screenshot), in the panel 'Configure'-> 'Network'-> 'RED'-> 'Add RED interface'-> 'RED Network settings' the option 'Configure DHCP ' is off.

What is the reason for that? in addition to needing to have more than one 'dynamic ip lease', many hosts use reserved IPs (Statics IP mac mapping)

This is the configuration of the RED50 that we put on and that the XG330 accepted (screenshot), but it presents the reported behavior (RED list disappears from the Control Center).

For us it is not a question of 'design' at all ... it is a 'bug'...

    Regards!

  • Hello Paulo,

Thank you for the screenshots and follow-up!

As mentioned currently the RED Devices only allow to configure one DHCP server! This is by design, in future releases, this will change!

When adding DHCP via the DHCP server of the XG, if you add a second one for the RED, this will not work and will cause the RED  to disappear, because this is not supported at the moment.
