RED in a bridge and operation mode

Hi, i have a RED15 in Bridge with my LAN at the main place. To control the traffic and see what happens i used the Standard/Unified mode.

RED15 connects my home and i have a few issues with speed over the network and want to change to Standard/Split mode.

In XG network i don't see the RED just the Bridge entry.

1. is it possible to use the RED/LAN in a bridge mode with the Standard/Split operation mode?

2. if yes, is it possible to change the operations mode without removing the bridge -> change -> add bridge?

3. General question: in split mode are the firewall also working for the splitted traffic to the internet?

Thanks
Wolfgang

  • As far as i know, this will work. Would recommend to use V18 for this (Some improvement of Bridging in V18).

Another approach would be, to replace the RED with a XG (XG106?).

RED is bounded to Split / Unified Mode. It is very limited in his configuration.

A desktop XG appliance with Base License Supports IPsec without Subscription. In V18, you can switch to VTI (Route Based VPN). Looks like a RED Tunnel.

So to speak you could build the same with a small subscription fee but you can be very detailed in the configuration (which traffic directly through Gateway, which traffic to the HQ).
