Sophos V8.5.4 device OS support

hi downloading and installing the update in a dev environment and while reading release note i see that driod v4 and iOS 9 appears to be dropped, are these no longer supported? normally the release notes state that an OS support has been dropped but done see it in these notes.

its  daft question i know as the older OS isn't listed but i need clarification as we have hundreds on iOS 9x and droid v4.4.2 devices in use.

are these not supported or not tested?

  • Hello andrewmullins,

In general, not supported typically means not tested. You  can try installing the latest version on unsupported devices but you may experience issues (which will be rejected by support due to the OS not being supported).

Among the issues you may see, these 2 are the main ones:
-You may not be able to install the app at all.
-Using old devices / OS version might also have some negative side effects regarding SSL connections, as there has been a lot of changes in the past especially around SHA-1 and SHA-256 certificates.
