For philosophical reasons, I do not wish to block advertising banners (I believe if everyone did this, we would lose most of the free content on the Internet that we enjoy -- it is very sick to block ads, and then steal resources on the Internet that were funded by those ads). I am disappointed that Astaro does this by default.
Agree or disagree... I just cannot find out where in the Astaro the "Web Ads" are being blocked. I cannot seem to find this as a URL Category or Subcategory. Can someone give me a push in the right direction?
I would look at Web Security>URL Filtering Catagories>Web Ads. Uncheck the Web Ad catagory. Also you could be blocking ads/baners in Web Security>URL Filtering>Additional URLs/sites to block. I am not aware of Astaro blocking ads by default.
Hi Jim. You are saint! Just getting me to look again at URL Filtering Categories helped me find the problem... by default, it only shows 10 categories at a time... so when I did a search for "Web Ads", I didn't find it. Now when I display all the categories, and did a search, some how "Web Ads" was checked on the "Suspicious" category!
And you may be right... maybe I accidentally checked it, and so maybe it's not by default.... I can't say for sure.
