Port TCP 587 (Submission) open

Hello Folks,

I just ran some online port-scanners against one of our ASGs and they revealed that port 587/tcp is open. I doublechecked all service-definitions and I can't find any rule opening that port.
So I suppose it must be something different, probably something auto-generated by Astaro.

my /etc/services lists this port as "mail message submission".

Does anyone have any information on how this is used by astaro?

    587 is an 'alternate' port for incoming mail (SMTP); it was created after many ISPs started blocking outgoing port 25 from home users, 'road warriors', etc.

    Having it open is no more insecure than having port 25 open for incoming mail.

      You got 465 also that does the same.

      465, 587 and 25 are now RFC for SMTP for some years.
