How can I transfer management of AP from one XG to another

I currently have XG 17 running on a Dell SFF I5 and planning to replace it with a mini PC.

Do I need to remove AP from Dell so it will show up in the new XG firewall?

Thanks

  • Hi

The AP would just need to be connected to one of your firewall's ports to be detected.

It doesn't "need" to be removed from your old firewall, but it's probably a good idea to for housekeeping.

Just plug the AP in to one of the ports on the new XG and make sure you add that port in the Allowed Zone under Wireless > Wireless Settings.

    • Does that mean I can hijack all sophos APs by plugging in a new XG firewall?

      • I guess you can say that. The AP's are easily transferable for ease of management.

If you have physical access to the AP and can disconnect it from its current connection and then connect it to your own Sophos Firewall then yes you can. Perimeter security will come into play at this point.
