Firmware Update Failure Alerts not clearing after AP Firmware upgraded successfully

On the 15th June one of my access points failed to update its firmware and remained offline in Sophos Central, while I noted that the AP55 Status light indicated that the AP thought it was online and Sophos Central thought it was not (however I digress).

I physically rebooted the AP at around 7:30am local time, it upgraded to 1.0.2-4 and it no longer shows offline, however the following two alerts remain active (I checked the event logs in Sophos Central to confirm the AP logged that it upgraded successfully)

Access Point "X" failed to update to the new firmware "1.0.2-4" in 121 minutes
Firmware update to version 1.0.2-4 failed after 121 minutes: 2 updated successfully, 1 failed

Is this expected? I would have thought if the AP55 comes up and now has the firmware than the alerts would clear.

  • Hi Leon,

    thanks for the feedback.

Actually the expected workflow is that Alerts need to be cleared manually - they are there to be noticed. What is missing though is a date/time for these Alerts, so you can see when it actually happened, and we're going to add this later. Hopefully, in this combination the Alerts will be more helpful.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

Understand the principal, I guess the challenge was there was no later alert to indicate that the upgrade had actually been applied. So I could not tell if I needed to investigate or not, as it was I investigated and found no action needed to be taken.

Hopefully the changes you mentioned will cover the scenario.
