AP Offline Alert

During my testing I manually disconnected an access point and it took just over 10 minutes for the access point state to change from "up to date" to "offline".  There were no notificatoins or alerts on the Sophos Central portal about the access point going offline.

Are there plans to have alerts on the dashboard and email notifications when an access point goes offline?

  • Hi, Dirk.  I'm not sure when the AP actually went offline, but the email alert I got did not have any information actually in it.

Sophos Central Event Details for ...

What happened: Access point is offline

    Where it happened: n/a

    User associated with device: n/a

    How severe it is: Medium

What Sophos has done so far: n/a

What you need to do: n/a

Is there any plans to add the serial number/name to the email notifications?

  • Hi,

I created CWIFI-4304 to have SN, name + time in the email alert. We will also check on the content of the mail as the other fields are not helpful for this case.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

  • Thanks Dirk.  In the 2 brief tests that I did, it took between 4 and 5 minutes on the first test and 8-9 minutes on the second before the access point showed as offline in Sophos Central.  The AP was not offline for long (minutes), and I have yet to receive an email about it going offline.  The AP does show in Sophos Central rather quickly once an Internet connection has been restored.

Thanks and have a great day!
