CLI Password Rules

Hi All,

I was having difficulty logging into the CLI console, kept getting the 'Authentication Failed' error. Am sure I was using the correct passwords as was logged into GUI with same admin password - which I believe are synced anyway?

Anyhow... If I change the password via the GUI to something simple, it works... but my regular admin password that is 24 characters and a mix of uppercase, lowercase, 0-9 and special (%,!,* etc) doesn't work on CLI.

Does anyone know if there are limits/rules etc on what is an acceptable password for CLI access?

Many thanks,

AG

  • My password currently has 20 characters, containing all 4 types of characters you have listed above as well. Everything works well so far.

I'd guess you have a keyboard language issue probably?

    • It turns out that there is a bit of a lag sometimes when launching the console from within the GUI. As you can't see the cursor move it's hard to tell if the characters have been sent before pressing enter.

Anyway, through SSH it works fine, so it's not a big deal.

      Many thanks,
