SSL VPN & Nginx proxy Manager Access List

Hi guys. I've set up Nginx proxy manager to allow LAN ONLY access to some sites. The SSL VPN is configured and able to access  all the other LAN resources I specified.

If I add my home WAN IP to the allowed IPs in Nginx Proxy Manger, then the site works.

When connected via VPN, whatismyipaddress.com shows the VPN hosts IP and not my home WAN IP as expected, however I can't seem to configure NginX proxy Manger to allow access via the VPN. Upon checking the NginX logs it is still detecting a connection from my home WAN IP. How is this possible? I thought the point of a VPN is to hide your home WAN IP.

Thanks in advance
