Unable to obtain IP address from DHCP created for VLAN interface.

Hi!

Unable to obtain IP address from DHCP created for VLAN interface.

The L2 switch is a NETGEAR GS308T and is trunked to the Sophos XG Firewall.

I have an access point connected to the GS308T and cannot get an IP address via DHCP on my iPhone or Windows connected to that access point.

However, if you enable random MAC address for iPhone and Windows, you can get an IP address via DHCP.

Also, if you set a fixed IP address on your iPhone or Windows, you can communicate without problems.

We performed a packet capture on Sophos and found that DHCP request packets reached Sophos both when the random MAC address feature was disabled and when it was enabled.

Even with a wired LAN in Windows, I could not get an IP address via DHCP.

The version of Sophos XG Firewall is SFOS 19.5.3 MR-3-Build652.

How can I get an IP address via DHCP even with wired LAN and random MAC addresses disabled?

Thanks

  • Resolved.

It seems that the IP address cannot be obtained if the MAC address was configured for static IP MAC mapping on Port1.

    • There is a cli-setting to allow DHCP even wile there is a reservation within another scope.
      i have to search...
