Fail to install Sophos XG (Home Edition)

Hello,

I'm trying my best to boot the installer of Sophos XG Home Edition version SW-19.5.0_GA-197.iso from a 8GB USB 2.0 stick on my Intel i3-1115G4 CPU with 8 GB RAM but can't seem to find a way to properly boot the Installer

I tried Etcher on MacOS and Rufus in ISO and DD mode on Windows 10. None of them did a difference

I read about the BIOS Legacy boot mode, but the GRUB loader only seems to boot while on UEFI. Did some tests with the CSM settings. Whatever I do, the USB stick isn't recognized while using Legacy setting

Here's some of my BIOS settings :

The only thing in CSM I kept UEFI is the Video since the HDMI signal isn't working in Legacy mode

Is there anything you could tell to help me navigate in this difficulties?

Thanks in advance and regards!

  • Hi,

you will not need or use two disks after installation. Please try enabling usb mass storage,

  • Thanks for the quick reply Ian!

I did tried a SSD in case the problem was due to the NVMe drive. Was planning to remove the SSD when the installation would be successful of course!

For the USB Mass Storage, I did try it Enabled as well. I switched between Auto, HDD and CD/DVD but it didn't made a difference

    Any other cues maybe?

  • Sounds more like the USB device is not recognised by the BIOS rather than a software installation issue? Do you have a dvd burner to try or even a different USB stick without formatting to see if it is recognised.
