Hi,
Maybe someone can help me with issue I'm facing.
I have fast internet connection (around 800 mbps download) and the thing is that I can't pass 20 MB/s when downloading software from Microsoft site using ethernet. When I switch to wireless I'm downloading same software from same site 40 MB/s (wifi ap maximum)
I have tried different interfaces, different cables, multiple PC's and laptops, with switch, without switch. Both interfaces (wifi and lan) have same configuration except ip adresses.
Downloading from wifi
Downloading using ethernet
I get same result every time I run the test, just can't pass 20 MB/s
Speed test showing good results.
I can copy files to network shares using gigabit speeds.
I don't have any traffic shaping or IPS on rules.
It is strange that when I switch the cable to port 8, where the wireless is normally connected, I get the same speed (20 MB/s) so it has to be something with laptop but I can normally transfer files on gigabit speeds on local network, and also I tried with multiple brand new laptops, computers, with updated network card drivers, with old versions etc. I tried everything that I can think of but nothing on the XG side.
Can someone please help me solve the issue.
Hi,
who is the manufacturer of your wifi? When you review the gui ips page are there any options ticked? What are the interface settings on your Ethernet ports?

Thank you for reply.
I wanted to ask that question for a long time, but I didn't because 200 mbps is fast enough and it is not noticeable at all in normal internet use, but why not try to get the maximum? I know download speeds depend on them as well, but it's strange that I get the same results every time.
I have XGS 2100 with latest SFOS 19.0.1 MR-1-Build365
On port 8 I have small 5 port unmanaged poe switch for distributing power to two Aruba instant on AP 15.
Port F1 is connected to Dell powerconnect L2 managed switch for lan users.
Lan rule
Wifi rule
BBut also I get same results when plug laptop to sw on port8, port 8 directly, and when I configure some other interfaces on XG. Doesn't really make much sense to me so I tried with different hardware I get same result.
I would understand that I get the same download speed, for example 30 MB/s, so I would say that something is limited
A couple of minor points about your rules, even though you haven’t ticked the proxy box, you are using the proxy because of the other boxes you have ticked. Also suggest you enable the lan to wan rule for your ips, it will help with your detection and not affect your throughput.
what does the gui-> DDoS show. Basically you should disable all the settings in the first screen.
your hardware is capable of reaching single user throughput that you are testing. If you can try performing the same test on two PCs at the same time to see if it hardware related.

The web proxy is used when the first of those boxes are ticked, if left blank the dpi engine is used. The dpi engine does not scan udp traffic and has a long list of exceptions.
You will need to setup a rule for Netflix or setup some exceptions.
I will post some of my setup tomorrow which allows Netflix to work. I have Netflix working on Apple TV, LGtv and iPad.

Thank you,
I accept as an answer because after clicking the proxy and IPS policy I managed to get maximum speeds, but I have to admit that I still don't understand why, especially since I had the same settings on the wireless network and I downloaded faster than on the wired network.
I don't fully understand the instructions
Thank you for Netflix exception.
