  • Anyone else experience issues uploading the v19 MR1 firmware on VMWare? Running v19 GA but the 19 MR1 will not upload into the empty slot. The "spinning wheel" on the upload screen starts for a few seconds, then just stops. On another occasion as soon as the upload started it went straight back to the login screen. Tried rebooting the firewall but still the same.

Firewall was originally built from the 19 GA OVA template, and VI-19.0.1_MR-1.VMW-350.sig is what i am trying to upload.

  • Which browser did you use? Did you try upload&Boot?

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Have tried several, Chrome, Safari, Edge - all the same. Yes tried upload and boot but just doesn't work.

  • Check the /log/applog.log at the time you upload for an indication.

  • Only thing i'm getting within the upload time period is the following in that log

Jul 26 09:42:13Z apiInterface:: Deleting Entity and Event for legacy mode base operation

  • Ok so spun up another VM with a fresh 19 GA build from the OVA template, and 19 MR1 imported fine. Will flatten my production build later and start from fresh. Hopefully that will sort it. Cheers.

  • this may happen when you picked the wrong update package. there are XGS and XG versions - built for other hardware.

edit: but you used the virtual machine update package for your VM - should be fine.

  • All sorted now thanks, must have had some form of corruption. Stood up a new VM, imported config and upgraded. No idea what was wrong - a pain but working.

  • Had the same issue when uploading the new firmware from Sophos Central to a hardware XG210 runnning v19.0 GA build 317, just the wheel was spinning for some seconds, then  - nothing. Tried "upload" and "upload&boot", did not change a thing. When I went to local access to the webadmin with a local download of the new firmware, everything went through. Now testing on V19 MR1.

  • It is not officially supported to upload a Firmware via SSO from Central. The reason is simply the performance by uploading such a big file to central and then to the firewall is to performance intense. Therefore an upgrade from Central should be done via Central Firmware upgrade, once the firmware is available and not via Upload over the SSO channel.

  • I guessed that, that why I tested it locally afterwards. Thanks for clarifying this!
