IPv6 setup

I found some really straightforward steps on configuring IPv6 on PFSense form my new internet (Starlink) however they don't translate over to Sophos and I am having an issue pulling and keeping an ipv6. They also needed to set the rtsol to run every 5 minutes, is that possible on Sophos.

Can anyone help me with the steps? Here is the PFSense instructions: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/mih62d/how_to_make_ipv6_keep_working_with_pfsense/gvehmhm?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Thanks!

  • from what I can gather rtsol is a tool in FreeBSD that searches for router solicitations. But in reading through the pfsense instructions it looks straightforward setup on that side, so its got to be something I'm missing on the Sophos side, because my ipV6 won't grab an address at all.

  • If I manually reset my interface I get an ipv6, but it only stays for 10 minutes or so, if i reset it again it comes back for another 10 minutes.

  • Hi,

That would indicate a DHCP time to live issue on your ISP's network? Are you assigned the same IPv6 range each time? You might inquire of them about how they handle devices that do not have that function?

Also you might ask for a fixed IPv6 assignment.
