Profiles question

Hi All,

New user of Sophos Mobile Control, and I am struggling with the profiles in SMC 4.

Is it possible to assign a profile automatically when a device is registered, and to assign different profiles based on if this is an employee device or a company device?

    Hi Danny,

    if the Self Service Portal is used, you can automatically deploy task bundles to devices.

    You first have to create your configuration profiles for the platforms in use.
    Once they are created, you can create a task bundle which have all you configurations in there.
    Please note that a task bundle for iOS requires as first task the "Bootstrap the iOS MDM client". An Android task bundle requires the "Install the MDM agent" at first place. Otherwise, you won't be able to select the task bundles in the next step.

    After a task bundle is created you can select that task bundle in the section "Self Service Portal | Group settings"
    You can deploy different task bundles to different LDAP groups which you can define here.

    However, right now it is not possible to automatically differentiate between employee and company devices during registration using the SSP. This is a feature request which you can find here. If you want, you can vote for it.

    Please add the feature to automatically install a different profile throught the SSP dependant on whetrher the device is  "employee owned" or "company owned"
