Windows Phone 10 SD card disabled

Is SMC 5.1.7 compatible with Windows Phone 10? One of our users upgraded to Windows Phone 10. He is syncing mail successfully but gets a message that he can’t use an SD card because of a server policy. I don't see a policy configured in our SMC Windows Phone profile that would prevent the use of an SD card.

  • Hi astevens,

within Sophos Mobile Control there can be a restriction configured for Windows Phone devices which is called "Forbid SD card".
Alternatively, you can also deny the usage of an SD card via an Exchange ActiveSync policy. Please have a look here how to configure this: technet.microsoft.com/.../dn764936.aspx

To only show the current settings of the Exchange ActiveSync Policy, use the Exchange Management Shell and run the command "Get-MobileDeviceMailboxPolicy -Identity:"Name of the ActiveSync rule"

In there, you should see a property called "AllowStorage card".

    Best regards

  • Hi Stefan, thank you for your response. We are not using the "Forbid SD card" option in our SMC Windows Phone policy and the Exchange AllowStorageCard setting is set to true. Perhaps a bug in Windows Phone 10?
  • Hi astevens,

yes that might be possible as well. Do your users have an Lumia 950 or 950XL? As far as I know these are the only devices which have Windows 10 Mobile installed at the moment.
Are your users maybe using a Technical Preview version of Windows 10 Mobile?

    Best regards
    Stefan
