Problem with answering Mails on iPhone

The environment:

  • Exchange 2013 (EAS-Proxy)
  • Sophos Mobile Control
  • iPhone

What works:

- Iphone getting E-Mails from Exchange

What not works:

- when answering Mails on Iphone they are stay in Outbox

- Conact and Calender changes didn't work / sync

Questions:

- are there known issues?

- is Exchange 2013/ActiveSync supportet? (https://www.sophos.com/de-de/support/knowledgebase/116908.aspx didn't write that)

- why incomming Mails come to iPhone but answering and sync of exisiting Data doesn't work?

  • You might want to check your outbound settings as well as the certificate settings for your exchange server: (With reference to Sophos' KB article www.sophos.com/.../119178.aspx)

    SMC 4.0 and earlier:

On the SMC server run the Configuration Wizard.
Note: This will stop the SMC service for a short time period.
    Skip the database configuration
Tick the box next to "Configure Exchange ActiveSync Proxy"
Make the configuration as needed and tick the SSL checkbox
The SMC server now tries to connect to the Exchange Server and imports the certificate of the Exchange this way.
Complete the Configuration Wizard which will start SMC service again.
Now the error should not appear anymore in the logs as the SMC server now trusts the Exchange certificate.

    since SMC 5.0:

Logon to the SMC Web Management Console as Super Administrator
Go to System | Setup | System setup | EAS proxy
In the "Internal" section enter the Exchange or groupware server URL in the Exchange/groupware server URL text field.
Select Use SSL to use a secure connection.
To test the connection click Check connection.
A message will be displayed if the server can be reached.
    Click Save.

Note: It might take another five minutes until EAS traffic works again.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest checking your EAS proxy logs in C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Mobile Control\jboss\server\mdm\log

    Hope that helps.
