We have enhanced Data Control in Sophos Email to support inspection and modification of email headers.

Inspect header
You can inspect the attributes of any email by using the Message Attribute rule in Data Control. You can also inspect attributes of any email within any other rule type in Data Control, by selecting attributes to match in the third step while creating the rule.
In message attributes you can filter messages by header, source, and size. The options available for header and source are shown in the screenshots below. You can choose to match for any or all the attributes listed by you, as shown in the two examples in the screenshots below.
Modify header
For any rule type, you can choose to modify header of the email as action of the rule. The screenshots below show the 3 options available:
- add header – inserts a new header and value in the message
- edit header value – edits values of all matching headers
- strip header – strips all matching header
