Sophos AV broken on user machine, will not update and cannot be uninstalled.

Hello,

I have a user with a problem updating their sophos AV. It does not appear to have ever updated and just shows the red cross on the sheild.

Initially it appeared that the Sophos AV service wasn't running but when I tried to start it it would instantly fail with an error "The service did not respond in a timely fashion".

I try to uninstall it but the installer fills the status bar, then empties again and it dumps me back out with no error and the AV still installed.

Following another similar case on the Sophos community I re-registered Savi.DLL and all that did was mark the Sophos Anti-virus service for deletion and I haven't seen the service since, even after another install.

I tried Revo uninstaller with much the same results only I was able to delete the files the standard installer didn't remove, then I deleted the install package from the installer directory, rebooted then tried a clean install and now the installer after autoupdate has installed with "Cannot connect to server".

No other users are affected and the results are the same whether I do a manual install, Deploy from enterprise console or install the standalone client.  The standalone client just fails with error 0x80041f09

Can anyone please offer any advise or suggestions?
