Error installing 9.5 standalone

I'm currently on verision 7, and am trying to upgrade my server to version 9.5  I have 5 clients that updated fine.  The error i get is # 0x80041f12.

Any help will be great, thanks.

  • Hi,

When you say the service will not start, does the install of the new SAV MSI package start, get to the point where the new SAV 9 "Sophos Anti-Virus Service" atempts to start and then fails?  It then rolls back the install?  Do the MSI and custom action logs in "\windows\temp" confirm this or add anything useful?

You say it's updating fine; does this mean that AutoUpdate is checking for new updates ok but is essentially stuck in a loop attempting to install the latest SAV 9 package?

Did you try uninstalling the previous version, rebooting and having another install attempt?

If you are stuck at the point where the SAV Service will not start, Process Monitor might help understand if it's a permissions problem.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

I have Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) but my install is working which I guess doesn't help you much.
