Update Server Clients proxy address

We currently installing our server clients to go out a proxy address by command line. We are upgrading our proxies and that means a new name. Is it possible to update the pointer for "--proxyaddress" to point to the new proxies without uninstalling and reinstalling?

  • Hi Scoutt,

Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

Let me know if updating the settings on the "General Settings > Proxy Configuration" page works for you. Details on connection retries are also shown on this page.

    • Hello Qoosh,

We do not currently use that feature. We install the server client command line and nothing else.

    • I'm actually looking and I don't think they use that command line switch. We do use a message relay but didn't think it got updates from that, could it be? If the server is not going out our proxy then how do they get updated?

      • For a server to have the Message Relay component deployed it is necessary for the Update Cache component to also be deployed. In the UI when initially deploying these features, MR will be greyed out until UC is selected.

This is likely how your devices are receiving updates.

        • Thanks, come to think of it, I think we use the proxyaddress switch just on install, then it's not used anymore. So nothing to worry about on my end then. lol I guess it just helps thinking out loud sometimes lol

      • Remember to back up any configuration files or settings before making changes, so you can revert to the previous state if needed. Additionally, if the server clients are part of a larger system, ensure that the changes won't disrupt other components of your setup.
