File encryption without having to encrypt the whole disk

Hello everybody,
I have an interceptX protected computer with device encryption license assigned.
I wish I could use the file encryption function without having to encrypt the whole disk, is that possible ??
In this computer I don't see the option to right click on the file.

  • Hi Luc,

Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

As Central Device Encryption relies heavily on Windows' Bitlocker, it is not possible to do file-based encryption only. The current options are to encrypt the entire drive, or only encrypt the used space on the drive.

An alternative that may work is to use something like 7zip to password protect and encrypt your sensitive files.

    • Thanks I thought it was so, you gave me the confirmation.

      • Hello, conpal has a product for file encryption.  It is called LAN Crypt and can transparently encrypt files in specified folders or with specified file extensions.  It can also import keys from Sophos SafeGuard File encryption which will End Of Life in July.
