Default Offensive word list = too many false positives ?

Hello,

I'm trying at the moment the Sophos Email Appliances in real life for first day...this evening, i have checked my quarantine llist and found many emails blocked due to "offensive language" rule.

My problem is that it tells me the reason is that it has found the word "piss". But the real thing is that the email was containing the word "récépissé" (french word for "a receipt")...

is there a better word list available somewhere, shouldn't this be a more complex regex to match such a word ?

Thanks

Florent

  • Florent,

I've been doing some testing and have been able to replicate things here. A quick glance indicates that it might be the accented characters that are causing us some grief. If I have "recepisse" as a word in a email it is allowed through but if I use "récépissé" it gets blocked.

I think the best thing to do is for us to log a proper case for you. If you give your local support a call on the normal number or log a case via email we'll take it from there.
