Sophos UTM Retirement / EOL announced

Finally, Sophos announced the EOL of UTM. Interestingly, the EOL does not apply to Sophos UTM AWS....

The benefit to mankind would be to release the source code of UTM and make it open source once it reaches EOL. This probably won't happen but for such a great piece of software to be abandoned and lost…

I had not seen an earlier announcement of EOL and note that the Retirement Calendar https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/121502 is still showing that UTM 9 is ACTIVE with no announced EOL, however the date on this document is Jan 23 2023.

A shame if the UTM is indeed finally being retired!

Germany is 18 hours ahead of the U.S. so maybe they will release this EOL on here tomorrow?

Just got an email with all these details, looks like it will work till June, 2026.

Hopefully XG SD-WAN routes will work by then, otherwise lots of current sophos clientes will switch to a different brand.

At the current state, SFOS is simply not good enough.

This was an early heads up for partners per mail only. Customer notification and update of the retirement calendar will follow around 3 months before the EOS date - as per the lifecycle policy.
