I managed to get the normal whatsapp working on my sophos utm home edition. But now the new whatsapp calls don't come through. The signaling of the call works, the phone is ringing and I can pick up the phone, but I can't hear anything. The caller on the internet even gets the normal beep sound, not busy.
Https scanning is enabled, setting it to URL only didn't help. Somewhere on the forum I read to open port 3478 UDP, did that, no difference. Application Control is also enabled.
Hi, opening port 3478 UDP is a first step .. but this is not unique to Whatsapp so you will also need to add relevant port used at your end. To do this, open the Firewall live log and then attempt to make a call on whatsapp. Look for your handheld device IP from which you are initiating the call in the log and note the port number used as a source associated with the same IP. Take note of it and add that as a new service port. Hopefully, that should work...do keep us in the loop if this works or you manage to resolve in a different manner.
How great to have a new member whose first post is a great answer!
One trick that you can use with Live Logs is that you can put your IP (or any Regular Expression) in the 'Filter' box, hit enter and have only subsequent lines displayed that match that expression.

Hey Guys,
I too encountered this issue but after scurrying around my firewall logs I've found that allowing the below mentioned ports allowed persons to within my company to make wifi calls via What's App. I trust that this helps you out.
TCP: 4244,5222,5223,5228,5242
TCP/UDP: 59234, 50318
UDP: 3478,45395
